If you want to make money online, your social media presence matters. Period....

Even if you have a killer website or a very convincing business idea, you are missing on a huge customer base if you are not appropriately showing on social media platforms.

As of January 2020, there are approximately 1 billion monthly active users on Instagram, which is ahead of the other social networking sites, such as, Pinterest and Twitter.

Imagine your reach, even if you are able to tap 0.01% of people through this platform.

But now the question is your Instagram profile ready to convert your visitors into customers?

Are you ready to check?

Lets Go..

Step 1: Do you have an Instagram Business profile?

Instagram has the feature to convert your normal Instagram profile into business profile.

But Why?

Instagram Business Profile comes with a lot of features that you might not find in a normal profile. For instance, Instagram shopping, Instagram Insights and Instagram Ads.

You can check the demographics of your audience, follower growth, best time of posting, impressions and the list is very very long....

You will also be able to add Call to Action Button which can stimulate your customers to check your shop or e-mail their queries to you.

This is not all,

Business Profiles have the access to paid promotional activities and you can even monetize your reels and IGTV after finishing off a particular milestone.

After knowing all this, do you still want to continue with a normal profile?

Step 2: Is your Username simple and Recognizable?

Choosing a unique name might sound cool, but are you connecting with your target audience with that name?

Here, you need to ensure that your username is simple, searchable, recognizable and appropriately related to your offerings.

Unfortunately, if you find out that your business name has already been taken, in that case, add something extra to the user name.

For instance, I was not able to get the username @anurekha for my business account so I opted for @anurekha_consultants.

Step 3: Is your Instagram Profile picture branded?

The first thing that attracts people even before clicking onto the Instagram account is profile picture. That's why, it should look good.

Here you have two options, either you can choose to have a profile picture with logo on it or you can also have your own picture.

In my opinion, if your offerings are product-based then you can choose to have a logo as a profile picture. However, in case of service-based offerings, it is always preferable to show your face.

It's also worth spending time to study other businesses of your niche and check what sort of profile picture they are using for their Instagram Profile.

Take your own picture in proper light with a light-coloured background so that the focus of the viewer is not distracted. And, you are good to go!!

Step 4: Is your Instagram Bio informative and convincing?

You get only 150 characters for writing your Bio, are you using them wisely?

Here a quick tip is, Bio is not about you, but about your customers. Present your brand personality and mission of the business. Specifically, specify what customer problem or pain point are you serving. You can even choose to include your brand mission. But, do not forget to mention how your mission of the brand is beneficial for your customers.

Do not forget to include emoji. At the same time do not overdo them because that way it might not look professional. Key is, strike a healthy balance.

At the end, include a call to action, such as, download the application with the below link, check out the website, avail your welcome discount etc..

Step 5: Do you have relevant Instagram Stories Highlights?

Instagram Stories stay on your profile for only 24 hours and if you are not highlighting your important stories, you’re missing out on something very important.

This feature will pin your stories on your Instagram profile for ever until you do not delete them.

Essentially, Highlights are used for promotions, educating the visitors and engaging them.

Again, use this feature wisely, because overdoing it can also result in lost interest of the viewers. Keep updating your highlights and keep what is relevant and delete what is outdated.

With this, I end this blog by saying you’re now fully ready to take advantage of a well-optimized profile.
